Boracay is a small island in the Philippines located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies.The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak in the municipality of Malay, in Aklan Province. The island is administered by the Philippine Tourism Authority and the provincial government of Aklan. Apart from its white sand beaches, Boracay is also famous for being one of the world's top destinations for relaxation. It is also emerging among the top destinations for tranquility and nightlife.

Boracay was named ‘Best Beach island’ by a magazine in 2016. Work on your tan on the island’s seven-kilometer powdery white sand. Or go kiteboarding or windsurfing on Bulabog Beach-listed as a top destination in the international circuit.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Air

The fastest way to Boracay is to fly from Manila to Caticlan Airport in Panay island. There are also many flights to Kalibo, one may also take the Manila-Kalibo flight however, travel time is is 1 1/2 hours by bus from Caticlan.Flight time from Manila to Caticlan is approximatelyt 50 minutes. From Cebu City, flying time is also about 50 minutes and 30 minutes from Tablas, Romblon.

By Sea

An adventurous but more leisurely and romantic way to travel to Boracay is by ferry from Manila to Caticlan or Dumaguit, near Kalibo.Travel time is about 17 hours.

GETTING AROUND

Most visitors opt for motorized tricycles, which act as the island's taxis and make up most of its traffic. As the tricycle seats are (in)conveniently located right above the vehicle exhausts, there can be a little pollution however - bring a handkerchief if you tend to be easily bothered by this sort of thing.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

The high season is from December to Apirl. Chirstmas is popular - but you may have trouble finding accommodation. May to June is ideal but rather hot. July to November is the low season and therefore the cheapest time to go. October and November have the best sunsets.
